Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Modern Technical Solutions ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the TradeTool mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using TradeTool, you agree to this Policy. Questions? Contact tradetool.mts@gmail.com.
1. Who this Policy covers
TradeTool is a field-service management tool for trade businesses. There are two kinds of information:
- Account users: business owners, managers, dispatchers, and technicians who sign in and use the app.
- Business records: information that account users enter about their own customers, jobs, inventory, vehicles, and invoices.
For the customer and job records that a business enters, the business is responsible for that data (the "controller"), and TradeTool acts as a service provider ("processor") on the business's behalf. Businesses are responsible for having a lawful basis to enter their customers' information and for their own privacy obligations to those customers.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address, and password (or the identifier from Apple/Google sign-in), your role, and business affiliation.
- Business profile: business name, industry, phone, and address.
- Customer records: names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, notes, and spend history you enter about your customers.
- Job and operational data: work orders, schedules, technician notes, materials used, inventory, fleet details, and audit logs.
- Photos: images you attach to work orders and customer signatures you capture.
- Voice recordings: when you use Quick Job voice input, we record audio and send it to a transcription service to convert it to text. The audio is used to produce the transcript and is not retained after transcription.
Information collected automatically
- Location: with your permission, we collect your device's precise location, including in the background, to detect when a technician arrives at an assigned job site and offer to start their job clock (geofencing). You can disable location at any time in your device settings; background location is optional and the app works without it.
- Device & push tokens: a push-notification token to deliver alerts such as new job assignments.
- Usage data: actions taken in the app, stored as audit logs for the business.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe. TradeTool does not collect or store full payment card numbers. We store transaction records such as invoice amounts, payment status, and Stripe reference IDs.
3. How we use information

- Create and manage work orders, schedules, customers, inventory, invoices, and payments;

4. Service providers (sub-processors)
We share information only with vendors that process it on our behalf to run the Service. We do not sell personal information.

Each provider is authorized to use the data only to provide its service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
5. Data retention
We retain information for as long as your account or your business's account is active, or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. When a business or account is deleted, we delete or de-identify associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
6. Security
We protect information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls that restrict data to a user's own business. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access & correction: you can view and edit most of your information in the app.
- Location: you can turn off location (including background location) in your device settings at any time.
- Deletion: you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing tradetool.mts@gmail.com. We will verify your request and delete the data within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Regional rights: depending on where you live (e.g., under GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. We do not sell personal information.
If TradeTool processes information about your customers on your behalf, direct those individuals' requests to the business that entered the data; we will assist that business as its processor.
8. Children's privacy
TradeTool is a business tool intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
We operate the Service from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
